i heard the Lenovo G series are budget laptops? does it mean they are not that durable and not so tough?

is it true? and can anyone suggest which one i should pick? the acer aspire 4740? (only downside for me in this laptop is the keyboard. very prone to dust underneath it. very dusty in the phils u know) or the LENOVO G460? thanks. and what do you think about MSI? MSI CX420X??
well. i just found out about this acer aspire 4740G. looks pretty good too. only downside is the keyboard which can get dusty underneath. well yes, depends on how i treat it. never had a laptop before. treating it would mean ill be using photoshop, football manager on it. hope it doesnt fry. thanks a lot for the answer. didnt know toshiba was good.

When comparing individual models in the G series, they do appear to be budget laptops…. not only in the MSRP, but in the processor speed offered, hard drive size and speed offered, and most of them have either Intel GMA or ATI Radeon 4200 for a video chipset.

Does being a Budget laptop mean it is bad? No.

Consider for a moment. You are mulling over buying an Acer. Even their BEST machines are not as good as a budget Toshiba

In the end, how good a laptop is will depend on how you treat it, and how good the manufacturer is at handling defects. Lenovo took over a solid product line from IBM. Acer… does not have a good track record from any angle.

Now.. the MSI CX420X? It has a better processor and better video chipset than the G460 (smaller drive though). As to reliability… Lenovo has a better track record.

end of line

laptop power supply.I remember hearing a tough book commercial that talked about its hard drive bracing itself when it sensed acceleration (being dropped) and I have a friend with a mac who is convinced macs do the same. The problem is I can’t find proof one way or another online.
Awesome, that link covered it. Thanks, guys.

Drop one and find out.

Yes, he’s right.

It’s nothing special, Thinkpads have been doing it for decades.
